Duration: Two Days

Enjoy two of New Zealand’s most famous destinations in one day travelling aboard a premium air conditioned tour coach. Visit the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves before travelling to Rotorua , known globally for it’s spectacular geothermal activity including geysers, boiling mud pools and springs. Experiences also include a Maori arts & crafts, a Maori cultural performance.  Travel the next day by mini coach to Lake Taupo New Zealand’s largest inland lake.

See the Lady Knox Geyser, Huka Falls, views of the lake with the spectacular central plateau volcanoes of Ngaruahoe, Ruapehu and Tongariro (on clear days) other sights include the Wairakei Geothermal Power Station and the world’s largest Radiata Pine Forest. On your return to Rotorua transfer to our service returning to Auckland.

Places of Interest:

Day 1- Auckland / Waitomo / Rotorua

• DEPART AUCKLAND:
  Travel the main Southern Highway through small rural townships steeped in early pioneer history.
• WAIKATO:
  Journey through New Zealand’s largest dairy and sheep farming region. Travel the outskirts of Hamilton City via the small agricultural settlements towards the King Country, hometown of the Maori Monarchy.
• WAITOMO GLOW WORM CAVES:
  Join a guided tour through this world-famous cave formation, climaxed by drifting silently in a boat through a glow worm cave lit up with thousands of tiny little glow worm lights.
• ROTORUA:
  New Zealand’s highest city, 305 meters (1000 feet) above sea level, located inside a volcanic crater. An area of great geothermal activity. We will visit the following attractions:
• LAKE ROTORUA:
  Drive through the foreshore park past hundreds of ducks and swans. Then through the gorgeous historic Government Gardens.
• TE PUIA CULTURAL PERFORMANCE
  A 45 minute show of Maori song and dance inside Te Puia’s sacred meeting house.

• TE PUIA INSTITUTE (MAORI ARTS & CRAFTS AND WHAKAREWAREWA THERMAL RESERVE):
  One of Rotorua’s famous attractions. See woodcarving, weaving displays, Maori village and the thermal valley with the famous Pohutu Geyser, fumaroles, colourful silica deposits and boiling mud pools.
• HANGI BUFFET LUNCH:
  Each dish has a twist of authentic Māori cuisine then crafted with locally sourced and freshly prepared ingredients by our award-winning chefs. From Steamed Puddings to Kai Moana (Seafood), Manuka Smoked Ham, Hāngī Chicken, Pātaka Kai has something to tempt all taste buds with our tantalizing dishes.

Day2 Two – Lake Taupo / Auckland

• JOIN THE COACH FOR LAKE TAUPO:
  Departure from Rotorua Hotel at 9:15 am
• WAI-O-TAPU THERMAL WONDERLAND
  Watch the Lady Knox Geyser erupt then follow the marked trails around this splendid spectacle of boiling mud, the Champagne Pool, Devil’s Cauldron and the colourful Artist’s Palette
• OTHER HIGHTLIGHTS INCLUDE
  Huka Falls, Huka Jet (optional – own expense), Lake Taupo, Aratiatia Dam, Wairakei Geothermal Power Station, World’s Largest Man-Made Radiate Pine Forests.
• DEPART FOR AUCKLAND
  In our deluxe coach departing Rotorua at 5:00 pm (approximate).
