Three day tour from Christchurch visiting some of the best destinations and attractions of the South Island.

Visit Mount Cook and Milford Sound, see magnificent alpine scenery and spend two nights in Queenstown on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.

Places of Interest:

Day 1 – Christchurch to Queenstown

Travel along the CANTERBURY PLAINS a flat fertile farmland to the foot hill of the Southern Alps and Lake Tekapo. We recommend a scenic flight from Tekapo rejoining your coach near Mount Cook (at extra cost).

On arrival in MOUNT COOK your choice to have lunch at a village cafe (own arrangements), or explore the walks in and around the village (1 hour approx).

Proceed to Queenstown across the rugged tussock terrain of MACKENZIE HIGH COUNTRY first settled by Scottish immigrants.

Arrive late afternoon at QUEENSTOWN the famous New Zealand resort on the shores of the glacier-formed Lake Wakatipu. Transfer to your accommodation for the next two nights.

Day 2

Follow the eastern shore line of the LAKE WAKATIPU before arriving at Te Anau. After morning tea (own arrangements) continue towards the Eglinton valley flanked by beech forest.

The road to Milford follows magnificent valleys and passes dominated by high snow-clad peaks then climbs to the HOMER TUNNEL carved out of solid rock before the steep descent into Milford.

Depart on your 11/2 hr cruise to MILFORD SOUND passing close to Mitre Peak which rises dramatically from the ocean floor to its 1.722 metre snow capped summit. Cruise past spectacular waterfalls and look out for dolphins, seals and penguins. Return to Queenstown by coach arriving early evening. * Return flight option available subject to weather (at extra cost).

Day 3

Return to the Garden City of CHRISTCHURCH via Dunedin and Oamaru arriving approx 6.45pm
