Enjoy two of New Zealand’s most famous destinations in one day travelling aboard a premium air conditioned tour coach. Visit the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves before travelling to Rotorua , known internationally for it’s spectacular geothermal activity including geysers, boiling mud pools and springs and also for its crust as it’s got the thinnest crust in New Zealand.

An opportunity to know the Maori Culture & Natural history of New Zealand. Experiences also include Maori arts & crafts, a Maori cultural performance and a farm tour.Our coach service includes morning tea, and an airline style light lunch served by our onboard Tour Director.

Places of Interest:

Day 1

DEPART AUCKLAND:
Travel the main Southern Highway through small rural townships steeped in early pioneer history. Your host serves morning tea during this sector.

WAIKATO:
Journey through New Zealand’s largest dairy and sheep farming region. Travel the outskirts of Hamilton City via the small agricultural settlements towards the King Country, hometown of the Maori Monarchy.

WAITOMO GLOW WORM CAVES:
Join a guided tour through this world-famous cave formation, climaxed by drifting silently in a boat through a glow worm cave lit up with thousands of tiny little glow worm lights.

LIGHT LUNCH:
Served on-board as we are on the way to Rotorua through splendid rural farmland with its vast numbers of grazing animals.

ROTORUA:
New Zealand’s highest city, 305 meters (1000 feet) above sea level, located inside a volcanic crater. An area of great geothermal activity. We will visit the following attractions:

POLYNESIAN SPA
On arrival in Rotorua, replace Agrodome Farm Tour with a soak in the award-winning Polynesian Spa, voted one of the world’s top 10 day spa resorts. Enjoy tranquil bathing and lake views in four shallow alkaline rock pools, each with different temperatures (36°C to 42°C). Here you are surrounded by revitalizing native New Zealand flora, natural rocks, the sound of two waterfalls and a grotto. The pools are filled with soothing alkaline mineral water leaving your skin soft and supple. Note – please bring you own swim wear. The Lake Spa is a unique thermal pool environment, where the atmosphere changes from day to night, and from winter steam to summer sparkle. Rejoin your tour in time for the Te Puia Maori Concert.

LAKE ROTORUA
Drive through the foreshore park past hundreds of ducks and swans. Then through the gorgeous historic Government Gardens.

TE PUIA MAORI CULTURAL PERFORMANCE
A 45 minute show of Maori song and dance inside Te Puia’s sacred meeting house.

TE PUIA INSTITUTE (MAORI ARTS & CRAFTS AND WHAKAREWAREWA THERMAL RESERVE):
One of Rotorua’s famous attractions. See woodcarving, weaving displays, Maori village and the thermal valley with the famous Pohutu Geyser, fumaroles, colourful silica deposits and boiling mud pools.

RETURN TO AUCKLAND:
Your attraction filled day ends as the coach travels through the gorgeous horse breeding district of Matamata and the pastureland of the Hauraki plains. A light snack is served on this sector.

From CBD or from your hotel / motel lobby.

Departs: Auckland @7.30am. and returns @8.15pm (approx.).

Fare includes: Hotel/Motel pickups, on-board host service, multi-lingual service, admissions, Polynesian Deluxe Lake Spa, morning tea, light lunch, evening snack and tax.

Towels are provided however please bring along some swimwear. Alternatively, swimwear can be hired for $5.00

NOTE:When underground river is in flood and boats can’t operate, glow-worms are viewed from an observation platform.
